Exclusive: A Bionic Recast!
Bionic Woman is undergoing a little surgery.
Mae Whitman (Thief) is being replaced in the role of Becca, the title character's deaf sister. An NBC spokesperson confirmed the move, adding, "The decision was purely creatively driven. It is very common to change story lines, characters, actors after the initial pilot is shot."
The search for a replacement is under way — and the new actress might not be required to learn sign language. Rumor has it that someone high up requested that the character's hearing be restored. It's a miracle!

As I said in my Trivial Mattr's blog, I thought it odd that they had a hearing actress in the role. It kind of screamed, "Kid sis is getting a $2 million cochlear implant in a later episode."

Too right, Matt.
I read your blog and agreed with your take.
However, I was worried that if they hired a non-hearing actress, it would end up being Hollywood's go-to deaf thespian, Marlee Matlin. Enough with her already!
Guess it's a moot point now anyway.

Yeah, she'll probably just be blind instead.
I haven't seen the pilot, but does Jaime even need a kid sister? You'd think the whole near death experience, bionic limbs, and evil first bionic woman would keep her busy enough without having to throw in a storyline about picking Skipper up at the mall.

Bionic woman tell the agency: You spent how many millions to give me new legs and an arm and get my vision back but you won't spend a penny to help my kid sister? Now you want me to do what for you?

I am not sure how I feel about this new Bionic Woman show. I was a gigantic fan of the original, and Lindsay Wagner will forever be Jaime Sommers to me!
