No money to fund participation
Montenegro officially out of Eurovision 2011
RTCG does not possess the necessary resources to fund their Eurovision 2011 participation. Back on December 4th, the broadcaster announced that should they find a suitable candidate, the singer would have to manage to find sponsors in order to be in Düsseldorf in May. It seems this has not happened either.
The official deadline to withdraw a country's participation without penalty is December 25th. Shortly after, we will know the final list of countries to take part in Eurovision 2011.

What a shame they can't join.
I prefered Montenegro than Italy & San Marino...
but Montenegro took the best decision... They would be out of the final whatever they take... as poor Andorra.
I hope for a miricle about Hungary and Slovakia.
I just hope now Hungary will confirm their participation. Today or tomorrow !!!
I'm disappointed.
Well, there's still Hungary, right?
@Pera yes for sure, Italy will not accept to be in semifinals.
What's the points?
just skip negative comments if you don't like and leave others being negative if they want... and everything is great....
Oh no ( I want montenegro back!!
Marko
But I cannot help it. I am just the kind of guy who always looks on the bright side of things, at least where trifles such as ESC are concerned. Experience has taught me that life is much more fun that way.
Off course but you force us with your questions to be positive all the time! It looks fake, sorry!
But forget it.............
Marko
You have your opinion and I have mine ... and I think that everyone should be free to express his or her opinion, right?
adarvus
You don't gve us chance to be negative here? Why? You will kick out everybody negative!
Well when ESC become positive contest we will stop being negative!
Till then if you don't lik our comments skip 'em!
I undertsand Montenegro! And I'm not disappointed with this! Maybe even better, I hope those who accuse Balkan countries for block voting will bash it a bit less without Montenegro which always give 12 points to Serbia!
@ Alexander S.
That story of Senit is like the stories about Tarkan every year.
@ Mario
It was reported in another site that San Marino takes part because they made a deal with an Italian singer called Senit. Obviously she pays for them and is rumoured to represent them in Dusseldorf. It was like that in 2009 (or 2010?) too, when they were negotiating with some other Italian singers (Paula and Chiara) to cover the expenses.
There's no logic in RAI paying twice, and San Marino won't spend a single euro either - that's why their participation depends on sponsors just like Montenegro.
@ Alexander
San Marino is coming back because RAI (who owns 50% of SMRTV) has pulled them to do it.
Maybe other of the finalists of Italian X-Factor could represent San Marino, this fact won't surprise me at all...
As optimistic news, I've read in another site that "positive news are expected from Hungary and Slovakia during the upcoming days". At the end, Montenegro participation was a big fata morgana.
I wonder if a record of participation is still possible...
@ Mario
But this is exactly what San Marino are doing - participating only because of a deal with some singer. It will always be like that with those small countries.
goodbye montenegro
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..... ....... ;(
Well, certainly the attitude of waiting for a singer that could want to pay all the costs (RTCG wanted to pay only the fee and little more) for giving RTCG free audience to the show/s it's not the best way to try a return.
The message for me it's like "OK we don't pay a sh*t for ESC, but if there is an idiot that want to pay all the costs and participate at his/her own risk, we'd pay the fee and broadcast the crash". In this way, Czechs will return before than them (and this is not soon)...
I don't know what to think.
Lina, are you trying to say Italy would withdraw if they weren't in the company of big ones?
@Pera , i suppose Italy waiting the official statement from EBU who join Italy to "big" team. So dont wait guys Italy to be in semifinals. Italy to participate want to be in "big" team . For Italians is so banal to be in semifinals
Another sombre and serious one has arrived ...
the writing was on the wall for Montenegro when Ralf S got involved (cheap option).....
As far as I know Italy can withdraw until christmas. I hope it doesn't happen! I'm really sad RAI haven't CONFIRMED their paticipation yet! What are they waiting for???
how some troll accounts find it possible to relate everything with their spamming obsession even when there seems to be absolutely no relevance with it really shocks me...it's a new generation of "inventive" spammers i suppose..
CC Catch
I agree ... but I always hope for a full house every year. And I hope that my dream will come true sometime in the future.
