    • 1851, Thomas Livingstone Mitchell, Australian Geography, page 139:
      They carry to Japan rhubarb, jinseng, silks, catgut, sweet-smelling woods, leather, cloths, and sugar, and take back pearls, gold, copper, sword-blades, paper, and japanned ware.
