1. (surgery) A surgical procedure for glaucoma in which a portion of the iris is incised and incarcerated in a limbal incision.
   • 1843, John Walker, The Oculist's Vade-mecum: A Complete Practical System of Opthalmic Surgery, page 193:

     […] or leave it in the aperture of the cornea, so that it may be strangulated, and ultimately become adherent thereto, constituting what has been termed iridencleisis.
