Borrowed from Japanese 西(いり)(おもて) (Iriomote), from Okinawan 西表 (Iriumuti, literally western front).

  1. The largest of the Yaeyama Islands of Japan, and the second largest in Okinawa Prefecture after Okinawa Island itself.
