Etymology[edit]

Short for bayonet Neill–Concelman, after its bayonet mount locking mechanism and its inventors, Paul Neill and Carl Concelman.

BNC connector (plural BNC connectors)

  1. (telecommunications) A connector for a coaxial cable which keeps the central wire from touching the cable's outer shield.

Usage notes[edit]

When expanded, the "BNC" is also incorrectly defined as the "British naval connector", "British naval coupling", "bayonet nut connector", "bayonet nut coupling".
