チャドウィック【James Chadwick】

読み方：ちゃどうぃっく

［1891〜1974］英国の原子物理学者。放射性現象の研究に尽力。1932年に中性子を発見し、1935年、ノーベル物理学賞受賞。第二次大戦中は渡米して原子力兵器を研究。

サー・ジェームズ・チャドウィック（Sir James Chadwick, CH, FRS、1891年10月20日 - 1974年7月24日）はイギリスの物理学者。1932年に中性子を発見し、これにより1935年にノーベル物理学賞を受賞した。1941年、MAUD報告の最終案を執筆した。これによりアメリカ政府は原爆の研究に真剣に取り組むようになった。第2次世界大戦中にマンハッタン計画に携わったイギリスチームの長であった。1945年、物理学における功績によりイギリスでナイトに叙された。
