ラグビーリーグ

ラグビーリーグ（英: Rugby league）は、フルコンタクトスポーツの一種である。1チーム13名ずつの2チームが、幅68メートル、長さ112—122メートルの長方形のフィールド上で競技する[1]。リーグラグビーと呼ばれることもある[2]。ラグビーフットボールの2つのコード（code、法典）のうちの1つであり、選手への支払い問題のためイングランドのラグビー・フットボール・ユニオンから分離した1895年に起源がある[3]。日本で一般に「ラグビー」と呼ばれているのは15人制のラグビーユニオンである。プロ化が分離の原因であったため、リーグ側は観客のためにより速く[4][5]、より面白い試合を作り出す目的で徐々にルールを変更していった[6]。
