なお「戦闘力を持つ軍艦」には、戦艦・巡洋艦などの艦種が含まれるが、それを一言で指す用語は軍事分野においては無い。しかしそれ以外の分野では、「戦闘力を持つ軍艦」を全てを指して「戦艦」と呼ぶ用例も見られるので注意が必要である。
