オランダ黄金時代の絵画

本項目では、オランダが世界的な影響力を持っていた時期、すなわちネーデルラント諸州の独立戦争である八十年戦争(1568年から1648年)の終わりから17世紀(オランダ黄金時代)[注釈 1]を中心として、オランダ人あるいはオランダで活躍した外国人の画家たちによって描かれたオランダ黄金時代の絵画(オランダおうごんじだいのかいが)について解説する[注釈 2]。八十年戦争でスペインからの独立を宣言したネーデルラント連邦共和国は当時のヨーロッパで最も富裕な国で、貿易、学問、芸術の最先端国家だった。連邦共和国を構成した北部の州は、南部の州に比べると芸術分野で優っているとはいえなかった。しかし戦争による混乱と住民の大規模な移動はそれまでの君主制やカトリック的伝統の破壊につながり、オランダ芸術はこれらの大きな変革の結果、素晴らしい成果となって結実した。
