Lily James Pub Quiz Banner

Quiz king Jay Flynn became famous during lockdown for the virtual weekly pub quizzes he organised which have now been watched by over 11 million households since March 2020.

For tonight’s edition, Jay has kindly agreed the quiz should raise money towards the care and support work done by the volunteers of our North London branch, of which film, TV & stage star Lily James is a patron. Lily will be known to many people for her roles in a series of hit films such as CinderellaMamma MiaThe Darkest HourBaby Driver and The Dig, as well as her appearances in TV classics such as War & Peace and Downton Abbey.

Lily has been posting about the quiz on her Instagram page @lilyjamesoffical, where she explained her connection to MND:

I wanted to share these family photos of my Uncle Bruce.  He passed away in 2006, at 49 years old, from motor neurone disease. He experienced the first symptoms 5 years earlier, unable to reach the 13th note on the keyboard he loved to play. It took nearly a year to diagnose. He was brilliant every way…he read to us from the dictionary, insisted we should always chew each mouthful of food 12 times and that food was to be enjoyed, even if that meant throwing spaghetti at the wall. He taught me how to salsa, swinging me around in his arms. He was my dad’s brother. And I will always love and miss them both. Somehow, even when he lost the ability to move and talk, he still communicated with us through the twinkle in his eyes. His courage and resilience could never be put into words. So many people have reached out to me with their stories of family members they have lost, or who are living with the disease now. I really hope you can join me for the quiz!! And, if you are able, please donate whatever you can, big or small, to this very worthy cause.
