Jimmy Kimmel isn’t a fan of The Martian.
The late-night host poked fun at his onscreen nemesis’ upcoming film by debuting his edit of the trailer for the space-set epic.
“Very sad news out of Hollywood this week — you’ve probably heard, Matt Damon has a new movie coming out,” he told the audience on Thursday night. “This will be the second movie where Matt Damon plays a guy who’s stranded in space. You know when Ben Affleck goes into space, he’s blowing up a meteor to preserve the human race! Matt Damon goes up there, he gets lost and has to be saved.”
His spoof trailer is framed as a comedy, complete with quirky, upbeat music. “Because sometimes the greatest love of all is under your spacesuit,” said a voiceover for The Mastronaut: Emission to Mars.
The actual Ridley Scott film ventures to the red planet and also stars Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kristen Wiig, Michael Peña, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan and Donald Glover.
