Ridley Scott‘s The Martian is on the move.
The 20th Century Fox film, starring Matt Damon, has relocated from the crowded Thanksgiving week to an Oct. 2 release date, and is being positioned as the first all-audience event film of the fall.
With its prior Nov. 25 release date, The Martian was set to debut on the same day as Warner Bros.’ Creed and Disney/Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur. Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 is also set to open on Nov. 20.
The Martian now opens a week before Warner Bros.’ Pan and Universal’s Steve Jobs.
Fox’s drama Victor Frankenstein, which was set to open on Oct. 2, is now moving to Nov. 25 in the vacated spot.
