Fox Shifts Release Dates for 'The Martian,' 'Miss Peregrine' & More

We've known since May of this year that Ridley Scott was going to be at the helm of The Martian, an adaptation of Andy Weir's book of the same name, adapted for the screen by Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard. However, since the director always has a slew of projects on his plate, we weren't sure if he would get around to making it sooner or later. But now it seems the project will actually be the director's next film, because Fox has just set it for release on November 25th, 2015. That's disappointing for anyone who was hoping for Prometheus 2, which was presumed for a March 2016 release, and now lies in limbo.
So what's happening with that March 4, 2016 release date that Fox already staked out? Well, that's where they're moving their adaptation of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. The Tim Burton film just recently added Eva Green in a lead role, and since production isn't supposed to begin until February, it was never going to meet the July 31st, 2015 release date previously set. That's not surprising since Tim Burton is probably still working on his Big Eyes drama before heading into his latest adaptation of preexisting intellectual property.
Oh, and if you're wondering what will take that July release date next summer, Fox is hoping for another home run from The Fault in Our Stars author Josh Green, as his book Paper Towns is being adapted by (500) Days of Summer writing duo Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. It will be a bit of a reunion since Nat Wolff, who co-starred in The Fault in Our Stars (and is reteaming with director Josh Boone for The Stand), is leading the adaptation of the book. That one is likely to be another emotional rollercoaster for the summer, so be prepared. Stay tuned for anymore updates.

How can anybody still expect ridley scott to ever do anything good let alone great again? If prometheus wasn't all the proof the world needed that he's gone and its all over, he follows that by somehow taking a dump on a Cormac McCarthy script. At this point I'm only vaguely interested in seeing what kind of trainwreck he'll be the cause of next like lindsey lohan.
