Queens honours: Michele Adams enjoys MBE 'career highlight'

Former Wales football international and Cardiff City Ladies manager Michelle Adams has been awarded an MBE for her services to girl's and women's football in Wales.

As Wales Under-19 girls coach, Miss Adams also helped nurture current Wales internationals Jess Fishlock, Tash Harding and Sophie Ingle.

"Seeing the youngsters you've helped coach reach the dizzy heights along the way is excellent," said the 59-year-old, who won five Welsh Cups in her record-breaking reign at Cardiff.

"To know you have been part of their success story is great. This is the highlight but it is very much for them as well as it is for me."

Miss Adams, now chairwoman of Cardiff Ladies, has given more than 40 years of service to women's football in Wales and won 28 caps for her country.
