    Sardar Azmoun joins the Giallorossi!

AS Roma is delighted to confirm the signing of Iranian international Sardar Azmoun on an initial loan deal.

Azmoun, 28, has joined the Giallorossi from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen on a temporary basis until 30 June 2024.

As part of the agreement, the club has the option to make the transfer permanent.

"It's hard to describe the emotions I'm feeling. I'm coming to one of the most prestigious clubs on the international stage, and it would be a dream to be able to win a title in the Roma shirt," said Azmoun.

"Last year, I had the chance to play at the Stadio Olimpico and I'll admit that throughout my career, I have never came across such passionate supporters. Now, I can't wait to fight for them and achieve our goals.”

The Iranian attacker, who was born in 1995, has previously played for Rubin Kazan, Rostov, Zenit, and, most recently, Bayer Leverkusen.

In 316 club appearances, he scored 115 goals and provided 48 assists. He also has 45 goals and 9 assists in 71 matches with the national team.

He has four Russian Premier League titles, one Russian Cup, and two Russian Super Cups to his name. He was also named Russian League top goal scorer for the 2019-20 season, and was named Russia's footballer of the year in 2021.

"Azmoun is a player we've been watching for a long time and who has undeniable technical abilities," commented Tiago Pinto, Roma’s General Manager, Football.

"We are confident that our group will assist him in integrating quickly and that Sardar will be able to make a name for himself in Italy".

Azmoun will wear the No. 17 shirt for the Giallorossi.

    Welcome to Roma, Sardar!
