Donald McKinley Glover Jr, better known by his stage names Donald Glover and Childish Gambino, is an actor, writer, comedian, record producer, and rapper who first got his start in show business as a writer for “30 Rock.” He later starred in the series “Community” and under his rap alias Childish Gambino, he created several hit singles including “3005” which earned him a Grammy nomination. 5. His father is not Danny Glover.

Many people assume that critically acclaimed actor Danny Glover is Donald Glover’s father given the similar names, however Bossip reports that this is not the case. Donald’s father is actually a retired postal worker who goes by the name Donald Glover Sr. and his mother is a retired daycare provider. Donald Glover Jr. was born in Edwards Air Force Base California. and was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness.

4. His rap name was inspired by a unique platform.

Donald Glover is a talented actor, writer, and rapper. When he decided to embark on a rap career, he created his rap name by using a social media Wu-Tang Name Generator. The generator gave him the name Childish Gambino and the rest is history!

3. “Kiss From a Rose” is his favorite karaoke song.

Pigeons and Planes reports that during an interview with GQ, Donald revealed that his favorite song to sing karaoke to is Seal’s “Kiss From a Rose.” He said about the song, “At the beginning, people know the intro and react [starts singing the melody]: 'Bada-ba-ba-ba-ba-bada-ba…' You’re never alone by the time you have to sing the “Baby!” which is the hard part because it gets high.”

2. He can cook.

As if acting, screenwriting, and rapping wasn’t enough, Donald can also add cooking to his long list of talents. So what’s his favorite dish? He told Pigeons and Planes that he loves making Osso bucco. He also shared some tips on how to to make the perfect Osso bucco. “The slower you roast it, the better,” he advised. “I really like the marrow – that’s my favorite part – so you can’t let it get too dried out. If it’s too dry, it’s awful. You’ve got to keep the lid on and the moisture in.”
