Russia completes S-300PS deliveries to Belarus, SURFACE-TO-AIR


Deliveries of 24 S-300PS launchers and two command posts to Belarus were completed in late May, and the Belarus Air Force's 115th Air Defence Brigade is expected to achieve initial operational capability in July, writes Grzegorz Holdanowicz. The new hardware will equip two battalions with a combined strength of four batteries and a total of 750 personnel.


According to Colonel Igor Azarenok, commander of the western operational tactical command of the Air Force and Air Defence Forces of Belarus, 'the entire process of re-equipping will take approximately six months and will be finished in [the third quarter] of 2006'.
