New Boy: A Dream Come True

Posted on: Tue 26 Jan 2010

Wolves new boy Adlene Guedioura today admitted it is a "dream come true" to have signed for the club and be preparing for life in the Barclays Premier League.

And the 24-year-old Frenchmen is confident he can make an impact at English football's highest level.

The all-action midfielder has put pen-to-paper on an initial six month deal which will then be turned into something more permanent if he impresses.

"I'm very happy to be here in Wolverhampton," he says.

"This is a good opportunity for me and I want to prove that Wolves have made the right decision in signing me.

"Since I came over at the weekend everyone has been really good to me and now I have signed I want to repay everyone on the pitch.

"It's a really good challenge.

"Coming up against the big teams will be difficult but I would like to think I can play well against them.

"I've watched the Premier League on television so many times, right from when I was young to now.

"It's been a dream of mine to play here and now hopefully the dream will come true.

"I hope I can show the club and the supporters that I can play here and make an impact.

"My style is to try and get about the pitch and be competitive.

"I also like to play football when I can as well."

As pictured, Guedioura is immediately renewing acquaintances with winger Geoffrey Mujangi Bia, who made the same move from Charleroi to Molineux just a few days earlier.

And while the new midfielder's English is good, he has already been involved in plenty of French conversations with both Mujangi and Ronald Zubar.

"It's the first time playing in England and so it's good for me to have Geoffrey here who I know from Charleroi," added Guedioura.

"We got on well there and it's good that we have both moved to the same club.

"Hopefully we will both show it is a good move and help Wolves win some matches."

Sporting prowess certainly runs in the Guedioura family.

His footballing father Nacer Guedioura was a former Algerian international striker Nacer Guedioura while his mother was a Spanish basketball player.

"My whole family certainly liked their sport especially football," he confirmed.

"It's been a big passion and I've been playing since I was very young - I love the game."

Guedioura, hoping to impress sufficiently to land that permanent Molineux contract, will be available for boss Mick McCarthy for tonight's big game with Liverpool should his international clearance arrive in time.

If so, he is happy to abide by the boss's decision as to whether he is included in the matchday 18.

"For the moment I am here for six months," he says.

"But I hope I can show the manager and the club that I am good enough to stay for longer and get the permanent deal.

"I feel really good at the moment and fit and ready.

"I am ready to play whenever I am asked but obviously it is up to the manager to decide when that is."
