What does the name Dragora mean?

The name comes firstly from mandragora, a plant which has been used for centuries in magic rituals and as medicine. The name "Dragora" also refers to dragons, two of which are represented in the project's logo, symbolizing both universality and duality.

What is the project's history?

Dragora was created in 2007 by Matias A. Fonzo, <selk (a) dragora org> in Santiago del Estero, Argentina.

After going through two beta versions and a release candidate in 2008, a stable "1.0" version was released on March 13, 2009.

Is Dragora based on another distribution?

No, Dragora is not based on another distribution. It was created from scratch.
