House is falling apart quicker than Desperate Housewives. End it now before it’s too late!
So Castle went up a tenth from last week. Is it OK to celebrate that?
Good to see HIMYM up a tad. Also glad to see DWTS down a tad. I am really tired of that show and I’m happy to see Bristol Palin and The Situation are not holding the viewers in. Flo Henderson probably is more appealing than either of those 2 idiots.
@Jennifer, celebrate away!
When they adjust for alternate programming being aired how exactly do they do it? In other words I guess what I’m asking is are they saying that the show got 0 viewers for those markets? Because if so, then I would expect that the ratings would be higher for most shows if alternative programming wasn’t airing.
The drop for Castle isn’t as bad as I was expecting. I believe it’s up from last week at least. I know total viewers doesn’t count but I wasn’t expecting the race to be so close with H50.
Chase will be canceled. After that horrible episode with Jennifer Morrison trying to play a killer wannabe i don´t think the show will last two more weeks.
So Castle was a 2.6 last week?
I don’t hate the show but why are people so excited about a show’s ratings in the mid 2′s. it seems to me like people celebrating Chuck being in the upper 1′s as being good. Is it the fact that the ratings have seemed to stablize?
HIMYM is soooo beating House next week!
Can Mike & Molly be called the hit of the season or it’s relying too much on 2.5 Men? If so, there’s no “legitimate” hit in this season?
I think ROE and M&M need to switch spots. I could be wrong, but didn’t ROE pull in better numbers at 9:30 than M&M and most other shows that have aired there (besides TBBT)?
@Cyrax86
Mike & Molly has the potential to be a decent(not great show). I watched for the first time last night and the leads are really appealing. The rest of the cast is dreadful and the fat humor has probably already driven a ton of viewers away. A little retooling could help it a lot but I’m doubtful Lorre sees anything wrong with it.
@ katie_kat
I think most Castle fans know the show needs to improve in the key demo but considering last year at this time we were logging 2.2s we’re happy to see it improved.
@awww1020
You really want a network is going to cancel the second highest rated scripted show of the night? Now that’s funny!
It seems neither football, House nor various political debates can sway Chuck’s small but loyal viewers.
@Lee
Thanks I didn’t realize the ratings were so low last year.I have to admit DWTS (as much as I loathe that show) probably helped Castle. I’m happy for the Castle fans.
All of CBS’s veterans shows matched their ratings from last week. Their freshmen shows were both down. Can that really be blamed on sports?
Lie To Me isn’t doing so great, I’m worried! :/
So, HIMYM is stable with last week? It’s good to see the much better sixth season is keeping the viewers sucked in. It was a great episodes, and I can’t wait for JMo next week! Hopefully she’s alluring to viewers, considering she was so woefully underused for three seasons on House. If anything, it should have been Chase that left.
katie_kat: Chuck fans are excited about Chuck’s extremely stable performance. It gets next to no promotion and the demo numbers are always the same. Almost all the other NBC shows are anything but stable: Community is slipping, Parenthood hovers around 2.2, Undercovers has sunk to 1.6, The Event has dropped to 2.2, Outlaw was canceled, Chase has a 1.5. These numbers are dropping more and more each week, so I bet these dreadful demo numbers are not the lowest we’ll see.
Most of the shows I mentioned have been promoted extensively (especially Chase, Undercovers and The Event) yet barely have better numbers than (or fall below) Chuck’s performance. Four years of stability is something us fans legitimately celebrate.
@Carol_R
If I understand your question, I think you have it backwards. But I might not be reading you right. Here’s how it works:
XYZ network in Market A aired special programming X at 8 pm last night, when program Z usually airs. In the preliminary ratings, everyone who watched special programming X was counted as watching program Z. In the finals, all of those viewers were removed from program Z’s ratings, resulting in a loss of viewers/demo.
If the market is small, or if the special programming isn’t a big draw (think political debates), there will be very small adjustments, possibly so small that they aren’t more than a rounding difference, and it appears that there’s no change.
Does that answer your question?
