Open Enrollment

Minnesota's public school students all have the opportunity to apply to attend public schools outside the school district in which they reside. There are a variety of reasons for open enrolling and include the availability of different class and curriculum offerings. Open enrollment is a school choice option available at no cost to the student. More than 30,000 Minnesota students participated in open enrollment last year. Students must apply to the school district of their choice by the priority filing date of January 15 for the following school year. Families generally provide transportation.  No tuition is charged.
