Provisional Recommendations

The Local Government Boundaries Commissioner, Dick Mackenzie CB announced his Provisional Recommendations for the boundaries and names of the eleven new local government districts in Northern Ireland and their constituent wards, on 17 September 2008.

These initial recommendations are the outcome of the work done by the Commissioner and his staff, since his appointment on 01 July 2008, and follow the legislation which was put in place in May 2008, providing for the establishment of 11 district councils in place of the current 26.
