Virginia Tech Killer Named Play After GUNS N' ROSES Song 'Mr. Brownstone'

23-year-old Korean student Cho Seung-Hui, who has been identified as the gunman at the Virginia Tech University massacre, wrote a play which takes its name from the GUNS N' ROSES song "Mr. Brownstone" and tells of a crew of 17-year-olds who skip school to gamble at a casino and fantasize about killing their professor. The play apparently goes through the lyrics of the entire GN'R song, relating Mr. Brownstone to the teacher the main characters want to kill. To read the entire play, go to AOL News. Police say Cho killed at least 30 people and wounded 17 others before killing himself in Norris Hall, an engineering classroom building at Virginia Tech University, Monday. I haven't heard one news report about this G nR shit. The blame lies on the shooter, and the people who knew something wasn't right about him, but neglected to do anything about it. Those poor kids were killed because of the ignorance this country and it's Goverment has about mental illness. And the lack of medical and money to treat these people. Most metally ill people do not have, nor can they afford treatment. Without treatment, shit like this happens. Until the Govenment takes it seriously, this will continue to happen more and more. As a former Va Tech student and Virginia resident, this shit hits a little closer to home than the rest of you. First of all, nobody is 'blaming' metal for the attack. It is a simple fact that the guy used a GNR song as a metaphor in his play, that's it. Fuck all you Europeans who keep saying it's America's problem and we deserve it (tituscrow). As I recall, the UK has had plenty of problems of its own in terms of violence (subway bombings, IRA spillover, etc.). Fact is, it's not a US problem, it's a world problem. Human nature dictates that they're crazies everywhere. I would still rather live in a country that grants personal freedoms to all despite the mistakes of a few than in a country that will censor its citizens based on isolated incidences.
I could go on for hours about this shit, but that's what CNN is for.

Wow... some people make real asses of themselves. For those bashing America... get over it. Are we perfect? Hell no. Is our president an idiot? Hell yes. Every country has their problems... and ours happen to be broadcasted far more than any other. I'm not saying we have less problems than other, far from it, we probably have far more. We're not all war mongering hateful idiots. Most everyone I know disagree with this war entirely, and looking at support percentages for our president and at out last elections, most of the country doesn't agree with him, or this war.

What happened to this kid as a child??? I'm really starting to wonder this now that the plays have come out...Notice you haven't heard a thing from the family of the shooter??? Was his step father sexually abusing him while his mother watched and did nothing? Why didn't he ever go visit his home..It's not like he was far away...How come the parents of the shooter were never seen at the campus??? Had he been so tramatized by his family that he cut himself off from them entirely over the years??? Not saying that this is an excuse for his actions, but it might give some insite into the feelings he was holding in and eventually expressed in the shootings he carried out. I find it odd that his family has NOT made ANY statements, by lawyer or media. I don't expect they should show there face on every news show, but atleast release some sort of statement...It makes me feel like this guy was completely alone, that he had no family, and nothing to look forward too.... I say look into this kids past, the answers lie there.... He may have been metally unstable to begin with, and then thrusted into family trama just damaged him for life...

And yes, the UK amongst others has its own history of war, violence and bloodshed of which the vast majority of us are utterly ashamed. Dunblane and Hungerford, to name but two.
And yes, it embarrasses me as a fee paying member of the Labour Party to see Blair kissing Bush's ass whilst soldiers from the UK continue to be a presence in Iraq and Afghsnistan.
The difference is, we don't shout "yee-haa" from our tanks as we lay waste to yet another part of the world high-fiving each other as we dance over the dead bodies.
The one point i will concede is that individually, none of those people deserved to die like that, but as a country....as a population.....you need to do more to get the laws changed or it's gonna keep happening, and whilst fools like you continue to say a lot and do a little, the problem is not going away.

1. If he had access to only knives, he would have been taken down quickly.
2. If every other person carried a gun, so that good people could have a gun on them at all times, just in case the one and a million happens and they need the gun, life would be a mess.
My co-workers can't even keep track of their personal possessions as it is ... keys, cell phones, wallets. Imagin loose guns being left everywhere.
So many guns around would be a temptation to a boarderline person really on edge for a few hours one day.

Trust me my friend, I've been very active since I was able to vote on helping causes to get our gun laws changed. The laws are outdated and useless (leftovers from the revolutionary days). I completely agree with your second post (except for calling me a fool, but we don't know each other so I can deal with that).
Nothing touches a nerve with me more than people who do not draw a distinction between normal Americans and the stereotypical gun-toating pro-war idiot. That's where my anger came from.

(One professor threatened to quit if he was not removed from her classroom.) The sad fact is that NOTHING can prevent a mentally deranged person from causing carnage. I believe in the Virginia statutes it allows a person who has valid green card to purchase a firearm. I haven't looked up the specifics but it was vaguely mentioned in an article(s) i had read. Personally I don't agree with that. If anything you should be a valid United States citizen before being able to purchase and own a firearm.

I may not be Asian, but they are taking over my neighborhood. So I deal with them everyday, and yes they are weird... I work in a resturant, I wait on them all day long!! I find them to be impolite, terrible drivers, and a lot of Asian cultures raise their children pretty tough. It's more like a training camp, than a loving environment to grow and learn...You are more than welcome to disagree with me, however don't call my opinion based on experience ignorant..What's ignorant is the fact that this dudes parents have not felt compelled to apoligise yet for the son they raised killing 32 innocent people!!! The university banned all guns on campus, even if you had a carry-permit. More death and destruction from the PC-mad hippies that obviously run this university.

I can see why Hollywood is so popular with the culture of death and violence they peddle, for ratings and money.
