This fleet consists of 209 class and Scorpene submarines, the “Almirante Merino” support ship and the relevant land-based infrastructure. The base is located in the port of Talcahuano. The Chilean Navy acquired two Scorpene class submarines, the “O’Higgins” and “Carrera”, both of which boast important technological innovations and the world’s most modern conventional platforms.
