The Crown: Dominic West Set to Play Prince Charles in Season 5 (Report)
Dominic West is going from The Affair to an infamous royal affair.
The actor has signed on to play Prince Charles in Season 5 of Netflix‘s The Crown, according to a report from the UK’s The Sun. The royal drama’s fifth season will chronicle the crumbling marriage between Charles and Princess Diana, played by The Night Manager‘s Elizabeth Debicki, after rumors of infidelity swirl about Charles and his former lover Camilla Parker Bowles. (Imelda Staunton will take over the lead role of Queen Elizabeth II in Season 5, with Jonathan Pryce playing Prince Philip.)
The Crown covers the lengthy reign of Queen Elizabeth II as British monarch, going all the way back to her coronation in 1953 and recasting the main roles every two seasons. Claire Foy originated the role of Elizabeth in Seasons 1 and 2, with Oscar winner Olivia Colman taking over for Seasons 3 and 4. (Season 4 debuts on Netflix on Sunday, Nov. 15.) Josh O’Connor plays the role of Prince Charles in Seasons 3 and 4.
West is known to TV fans for playing Baltimore police detective Jimmy McNulty in the HBO drama The Wire as well as playing author Noah Solloway in the Showtime drama The Affair, which wrapped up a five-season run last year. His other notable TV credits include The Hour and the BBC/PBS adaptation of Les Misérables.
Interesting. His career won’t be stalled, mean while Lilly James is already canceling tv show appearances due to the supposed affair. But yeah, sexism is not real…
i ilke it, having watched him on the affair, he can do a good job adding layers to prince charles.
I like him. Thought he was great at McNulty. But he sure does love playing characters that cheat on his wife…is it art taking after life or life taking after art?
People on twitter are acting like he’s actually been cheating on his wife, but this is the first I’ve heard of it–hence my screen name.

I love The Crown….. for me it is a wonderful show & gives us a glimpse into the lives of the Royal Family. The show really makes them seem to have normal things in their lives just like everyone else. I would truly love to meet members of the Royal Family.

Why? He doesn’t resemble thirtyish Charles in any way! He actually looks more like Harry (who resembles his mother’s side of the family) with dark hair. Couldn’t they find a UK actor who looks like Charles?
Josh O’Connor is playing Charles in his 30s (season 4) so I imagine season 5-6 will cover his 40s onwards

One would think they would get somebody to play Charles who at least remotely resembles him. Even the eye color is wrong.
