Leicester City striker Darius Vassell is likely to miss the rest of the season after having knee surgery.

Vassell, 31, tore medial ligaments and ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the 3-2 defeat away against West Ham United on 29 October.

The former England international has had a successful operation but is not expected to return for six months.

The ex-Aston Villa and Manchester City forward joined City from Turkish side Ankaragucu in October 2010.

He was signed by former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson and has played 44 games for the Foxes.
