download

Here you can obtain compiled versions of MegaPOV for the most common platforms as well as the source code.

For using MegaPOV you have to agree to the POV-Ray licence conditions. Make sure you read them before installing the program.

Documentation and sample scenes are included in all packages. If you prefer the documentation in a different format than included in the distributions you can download it separately in the documentation section.

MegaPOV 1.2.1

These are the packages for MegaPOV 1.2.1. Version 1.2.1 is a bugfix release for 1.2, everyone using 1.2 should upgrade to this version.

To find out what's new in this version see the list of changes.

An installed official POV-Ray 3.6.1 is required for all MegaPOV 1.2.1 versions. If you do not already have one you can get it from the official POV-Ray website.

Windows

This version comes with the graphical frontend that is known from the official Windows version (WinPOV) as well as with the console version. If you have a Windows PC and are unsure what version is the right one for you this probably is the right choice.

The documentation is included in the Windows HTML-Help (chm) format.

Mac OS

The Mac version of MegaPOV with its special unofficial GUI.
There are 3 versions available for Mac OS.

Intel and PPC G5 system 10.3.9 or later (Version mar 2007)

For all Intel based and PPC G5 Macintosh computers with MacOS X 10.3.9 and later you need this Universal Binary version:

PPC G4/G3 system 10.3.9 or later (Version mar 2007)

For all PPC G4/G3 Macintosh computers with MacOS X 10.3.9 and later you need this new version. It is the same new version as the Universal Binary above but it is compiled for G4/G3 PPC cpu's.:

PPC G5/G4/G3 system 8.6 to 10.2.x (Version Aug 24 2005)

For MacOS 8.6 - 9.2.2 with CarbonLib 1.6 or later, or system 10.1-10.2.x a Carbonized version is available. This Carbonized version includes a JITC (just-in-time-compiler) for faster functions, mostly used in scenes with isosurfaces. This version will also run on MacOS X. In case functions are used extensively, this version will perform better.

Linux (x86)

The classical Linux version with X11 and VGALib display, compiled with static libraries.

The documentation is included in HTML format.

Linux (AMD64)

We have also prepared a binary for AMD64. This will only run on AMD Athlon64, Opteron and similar machines. If it also works on Intel 64bit CPUs has not been tested. This version comes without SVGALib display.

The documentation is included in HTML format.

generic Unix source version

A standard .tar.gz with configure script for compiling MegaPOV on any Unix style operating system. If you want to port MegaPOV to a system not yet supported this is the package to start with.

The documentation is included in HTML format.

Mac OS source version

This archives contains all the sources and projects to compile the Mach-o, Carbonized and Classic versions. We only support Metrowerks CodeWarrior and you will need version 9.x to compile the sources. Keep in mind that if you decide to use another compiler, you will still need the PowerPlant framework from Metrowerks which is part of the CodeWarrior package. You can not do without! It might be possible to compile the package with CodeWarrior v 8.3 but we didn't try.

The documentation and supplementary files are not included, you will need to download the binary package as well for a full version.

Windows source version

This archives contains all the files required to compile POV-Ray for Windows with the WinPOV GUI.

The documentation and supplementary files are not included, you will need to download the binary package as well for a full version.

MegaPOV 1.2

These packages are provided for reference. They contain an old version and should not be used any more unless you know what you are doing. Don't expect any bugs in these versions to get fixed any more.

An installed official POV-Ray 3.6.1 is required for all MegaPOV 1.2 versions. If you do not already have one you can get it from the official POV-Ray website.

For MacOS 8.6 - 9.2.2 with CarbonLib 1.6 or later, a Carbonized version is available. This Carbonized version includes a JITC (just-in-time-compiler) for faster functions, mostly used in scenes with isosurfaces. This version will also run on MacOS X.
