Wilson's good start with Gastonia Grizzlies

N.C. State football and baseball player Russell Wilson is participating in the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer league on the east coast.
The Gastonia Grizzlies (Wilson's team) had their home opener this past Saturday night and all the buzz was about Russell Wilson. So much that the Grizzlies had their largest crowd in team history. More than 3,400 fans showed up and watched Wilson deliver.
He recorded two hits, two runs, and an RBI in the game. He led off the game with a double and rounded the bases to score the game's first run.
Wilson's choice to play baseball all summer long instead of concentrating strictly on football have raised some eye brows. Will he be able to follow his All-ACC first team season with another one in 2009?
When Wilson joined The Sports Lunch a week ago on 99.9FM The Fan ESPN Radio he shrugged off the notion that his playing baseball is taking away from his football preparations.
"I don't think so, as long as I have my mindset on the right things and as long as I continue to grow on the football field and the baseball field," Wilson said. "I'm not taking steps backwards, you know every once in a while you'll take a step back but the thing with me is I'm trying to get three steps forward."
Currently the Gastonia Grizzlies are 2-3.
