According to World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34KOs) will not be able to make another voluntary. His next fight will have to be against his mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (29-1, 21Kos).

Wilder returned on Saturday and stopped #12 ranked Johann Duhaupas in eleven rounds. He captured the belt in January by going the distance with a twelve round decision victory over Bermane Stiverne and then made a voluntary defense in June when he knocked out Eric Molina in six rounds.

Povetkin has been on a tear as of late, with brutal knockouts of Manuel Charr, Mike Perez and Carlos Takam.

The Russian Olympic gold medal winner will still have one final obstacle in front of him. He needs to defeat durable Polish contender Mariusz Wach on November 4th in Kazan.

If Povetkin wins, the WBC will issue an order for the start of negotiations with Team Wilder. If there is no agreement reached in thirty days, the two sides will have to go to a purse bid.
