John Carney and Adam Levine first conjured musical magic with “Lost Stars,” a track performed by the Maroon 5 frontman for the soundtrack to the director’s 2013 film Begin Again. Now, Levine has contributed another song, “Go Now,” to Carney’s upcoming movie, Sing Street, and a music video for the tune has premiered online.

“Go Now,” co-written by Levine and Carney exclusively for Sing Street, begins as a somber-sounding, guitar-driven ballad that explodes into a rousing back half. The music video pairs footage from the film with black-and-white video of Levine singing the song in a tapestry-adorned studio.

Sing Street takes place in 1985, telling the story of a teenager (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) who uses music to escape tense family drama. Eventually, he starts a band and moves to London. The film also stars Game of Thrones actor Aidan Gillen, Transformers: Age of Extinction‘s Jack Reynor, and Orphan Black’s Maria Doyle Kennedy. The film joins Carney’s growing list of musically-themed productions which, in addition to Sing Street and Begin Again, includes 2007’s Once, which spawned the popular stage musical of the same name.

The Weinstein Company will release Sing Street Thursday in a limited number of theaters. Watch the full “Go Now” music video below.
