Stephen French, WATERSTONE'S PETERSFIELD

5 out of 5

Unless you have been held captive in Barad Dur for the past fifty-odd years, you should be well aware of Frodo Baggins' journey to destroy the ring of power in the fires of Mount Doom. This illustrated, glossy edition is a good as it gets; mixing Tolkien's destinctive prose with Alan Lee's detailed drawings and paintings. Occasionally a victim of its immense scope and myths, it is still no less one of, if not the finest, literary achievement of the 20th century.
