Seahawks QB Russell Wilson ties Ben Roethlisberger's wins record

An incredible career start for Wilson could culminate in a Super Bowl championship, breaking a few of Ben Roethlisberger's records along the way.

The Seattle Seahawks drubbed the visiting New Orleans Saints 34-7 Monday night, giving quarterback Russell Wilson his 22nd career victory.

That ties him with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for the most wins over two seasons to start an NFL career. Roethlisberger was 13-1 in 2004, his rookie season, and followed that up with a 9-3 mark in 2005, guiding the Steelers to the Super Bowl XL championship - incidentally, beating the Seahawks in that game.

And it's fairly obvious Wilson will shatter that mark by the time it's said and done. The 11-1 Seahawks show no signs of slowing down, and the fact they managed to win 11 of 12 without the full compliment of its offensive line is evidence this is the team to beat in the NFL.

Wilson's play has been a huge part of that. Third in the NFL with a passer rating of 108.5, Wilson is arguably the best combination of passer and runner at the position in the league, and should be in legitimate MVP conversations.

Wilson also broke Roethlisberger's rookie passer rating record last season (100.0, Washington's Robert Griffin III had a rating of 102.4) in leading Seattle to the playoffs. His career rating of 103.7 would put him in the second spot all time, behind Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers (105.2) and Peyton Manning (96.8) if he qualified.

Sucks to be the Seahawks right now. The best part is, they have Wilson on the dirt-cheap for another two seasons beyond this one. If he stays on his current trajectory, his contract in 2016 will be astronomical.
