Football: Lubomir the master is key to Maloney's free-kick sorcery.

RECENT Celtic departure Simon Lynch claims his former club have mercurial Slovakian Lubomir Moravcik to thank for Shaun Maloney's free-kick sorcery.

Maloney came up with a deadball double on Sunday - after replacing broken jaw victim Henrik Larsson - to set up his side's fightback against Livingston.

But that was bettered last night when he curled a stunning 25-yard effort into the top corner to send the Scotland Under-21 side on their way to victory over Ireland at Rugby Park.

Maloney is now expected to play a big part in Celtic's quadruple trophy quest, with Larsson out for at least six weeks.

But his former Celtic teammate believes it is another Parkhead great who has helped his young protege perfect his free-kicks.

Lynch said: ``He is great at free-kicks and he learned a lot from the best in Lubomir Moravcik. He's now got it down to a tee.

``It is a real asset. Lubo took him under his wing at Celtic, and he's a learned a lot from somebody of his experience.''
