Eight villages marked for land acquisition in Jewar
Greater Noida: Eight villages have been earmarked in Jewar for the first phase of land acquisition for the international airport, YEIDA officials said on Monday.
To acquire the land by invoking Section 4 of the Uttar Pradesh Land Acquisition Act, 2013, YEIDA needs Rs 330 crore. “We have sent a letter to the state government seeking funds immediately so that we can start the process of acquiring land,” said Arun Vir Singh, CEO, YEIDA.
According to Singh, the land acquisition will be videographed with the help of drone cameras to ensure that no land mafia intervenes in the process.
“The present location, position and status of the land will be videographed so that it is put on record and land mafia cannot contest it and lay claim to it in future,” the CEO said. “We have requested the state government to take our request for roving the funds for the acquisition on priority. Once we have the initial 10% of Rs 3,000 crore, which is Rs 330 crore, which has to be paid to the district administration to start the land acquisition process, we can start our work,” he said. “If we get the funds, we plan to start the process by November 10,” he added.
“Four tehsildars and district land officials will be tasked with handling all procedures for acquiring the land in two villages each. One additional tehsildar will assist the sub divisional magistrate in the process,” said Singh. “In the first phase of the project, over 1,200 hectares of land has to be acquired in eight villages. These villages include Runhera, Kishorepur, Mukim Sivara, Dayanatpur, Rohi, Parohi, Ramner and Banwariwaas,” he said.
On October 25, the UP government had granted an in-principle approval for obtaining a loan of Rs 3,000 crore from Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) to establish the international airport at Jewar. The airport is to be developed in three phases on 3,000 hectares of land. In the first phase of the project, nearly 1,250 hectares will be required. To acquire this land, YEIDA needs nearly Rs 3,000 crore.
