Puopolo Park / Langone Park / Mirabella Pool / Steriti Memorial Rink

Puopolo Park and Langone Park were designed in 1894 by Frederick Law Olmsted's firm, Olmstead, Olmstead and Eliot, the same firm that designed New York's Central Park and Boston's Emerald Necklace system. The parks were designed as a multi-purpose recreation area with the nation's first public benches, and the theme of multi-purpose recreation has been carried into the 21st century. Puopolo Park has well used baseball diamonds and a basketball court. Recently restored, Langone Park has a playground, softball diamond, and three regulation bocce (Italian lawn bowling) courts, where you can watch bowlers of all ages enjoy the game.

The Harborwalk along these parks has views of Charlestown and the Bunker Hill monument and remnants of the promenade pier foundation provide a terrific fishing and viewing area. Mirabella Pool, open to the public during the summer months, has a shallow spray pool for toddlers in addition to the regular pool. Nearby, Steriti Memorial Ice Skating Rink is a popular indoor skating rink, with two additional indoor bocce courts.

The indoor recreational facilities have public restrooms. Street furniture, including an additional public restroom (25 cents for use), and a drinking fountain are located on Commercial Street next to the ball fields.
