Tottenham's new striker Eidur Gudjohnsen got his White Hart Lane career off to a flying start after he scored with his first touch in a Spurs shirt.

Just days after completing a loan move from Monaco, the Iceland forward netted twice in a 4-1 friendly win over Dagenham & Redbridge at Spurs Lodge training ground.

Harry Redknapp's other transfer window signing, Younes Kaboul, also made his first appearance in a Tottenham shirt since the £5million defender's move back to North London from Portsmouth.

Gudjohnsen's first was a finish from 12 yards after Jon Obika had blocked the Dagenham goalkeeper's clearance while his second was a near-post header from John Bostock's corner.

Spurs Development Coach Clive Allen revealed he was delighted with the forward's display and the fact he was able to get 90 minutes under his belt.

He said: 'It was ideal for Eidur as he's worked hard with the fitness coaches over the weekend but he needed a game from a match fitness point of view and just to get to know everyone. It was a real benefit for him.'
