Luke Chambers happy with Forest player of year award

Nottingham Forest centre-half Luke Chambers says winning the club's player of the year award is special after last season's personal frustration.

Chambers told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Last year I played a bit part.

"I only started 17 games so to come back and put in the performances I have makes it a lot sweeter.

"I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me. It's a massive achievement and something I will treasure for the rest of my career."

Chambers, who received his award before the win over Scunthorpe on Saturday,, external has formed a formidable partnership with Wes Morgan at the heart of the Forest defence.

He has appeared in 46 of Forest's 48 games so far this season, and has also weighed in with six goals as the Reds have all but secured their play-off spot with one game to go., external

But the 25-year-old was a peripheral figure last term, external and often ended up playing out of position at full-back.

"That's what makes it extra special," he added. "I have been used to playing over 35 games every year since I started as a professional.

"But I never doubted my ability and always knew I was good enough to play in my rightful position on a regular basis. I think this has backed my claim up that I was always a centre-half.

"It's got a nice ring to it but it's something I never think about. I just go about my business and try to give the best and most consistent performance I can and that's been enough."
