メジャーリーグベースボール（英語: Major League Baseball、英語発音: /méɪdʒɚ líːg béɪsb`ɔːl/; 略称: MLB）は、アメリカ合衆国、及びカナダ所在の合計30球団により編成される、世界で最高峰のプロ野球リーグであり、北米4大プロスポーツリーグの1つである[注 1]。厳密には、1903年に発足したナショナルリーグとアメリカンリーグの2つのリーグの共同事業機構で、両リーグの統一的運営をしている。日本では「メジャーリーグ」「大リーグ」とも呼ばれる。「大リーグ」の呼称は、メジャーリーグの別名「ビッグリーグ (Big League)」の訳語である。

- ^ ナショナル・アソシエーションについては、1951年に発刊された公式のベースボール・エンサイクロペディアで「メジャーリーグ」として扱われていたが、この年の裁定により除外された経緯がある。

- ^ 1995年から1997年はワイルドカードのチームが同地区の地区優勝チームと対戦しないのは同じであるが、ワイルドカードとリーグ勝率3位のチーム、勝率1位チームと勝率2位チームの組み合わせで行われることもあった。
- ^ 1992年より「MLBの最高諮問会議のチェアマン」との位置づけであったが、MLBの実質的最高責任者だった。1998年7月9日に正式に第9代コミッショナーに就任した。
- ^ 2007年10月、TBSが運営していたアトランタのローカル局・WTBSが「PeachtreeTV」に改称、TBSとのサイマル放送を中止。2008年よりブレーブス戦は同局で放送。日本のTBSテレビとは無関係。
