iPhone 4Sとは、Appleが2011年10月に発売したスマートフォンの名称である。
iPhone 4Sは前モデル「iPhone 4」の改良版となるモデルである。CPUは「Apple A4」から「Apple A5」へバージョンアップされ、処理性能が2倍に向上している。また、モバイルOSは、「iOS 4」から「iOS 5」へとのバージョンアップされており、音声アシスタント機能「Siri」、iOSデバイス間のMMS「iMessage」など、約200の新機能が追加されている。
ハードウェア面では、デジタルカメラの画素数が5メガピクセルから8メガピクセルへ向上している。外部アンテナはiPhone 4と同様のステンレススチール製デュアルアンテナであるが、送信用と受信用の2つのアンテナを自動的に切り替える機能が新たに搭載されている。その他、ゴリラガラスやRetinaディスプレイといった前モデルの長所は従来どおり受け継いでいる。
iPhone 4Sは2011年10月14日に販売が開始された。3日後の10月17日までに、販売台数は400万台を突破、iPhone 4の「発売後3日で170万台」を大幅に塗り替える大ヒット商品となった。

詳細は「iPhone 4S」を参照 2011年10月4日（日本時間では5日2時）に発表。アメリカ、カナダ、イギリス、フランス、ドイツ、オーストラリア、日本の7地域で同年10月14日に発売され、3日間で400万台を突破した。 利用者の音声で応答や処理を行う自然言語処理システムであるSiriを搭載した（4SのSはSiriのSである）。外観はiPhone 4からほぼ変更はなく（変更箇所はマナーモードボタン位置、アンテナ本数のみ）、プロセッサはデュアルコアApple A5チップを搭載、グラフィック性能では7倍に向上している。背面カメラは800万画素裏面照射型CMOSを採用、レンズもF2.4になり性能が向上し、動画撮影もフルHD1080p動画の撮影が可能となった。HSDPA通信が14.4Mbpsと高速化したほか、同一モデルでUMTS（W-CDMA）・GSM及びCDMA EV-DO Rev.Aに対応するよう作られている。ただしSIMロックフリー版のiPhone 4SではCDMA回線利用はできない。従来からのGPSに加え、ロシアの軍事衛星GLONASSによる位置情報検出に対応する。 ラインナップにはブラック・ホワイト各色に16GB、32GB、64GBが用意される。日本ではキャリアとして従来のソフトバンクに加え、au（KDDI / 沖縄セルラー電話連合）でも発売された。 2012年9月のiPhone 5発売後は16GBモデルのみが販売され続けた。 2013年9月のiPhone 5s/5cの販売に合わせて、名称を「iPhone 4s」（大文字のSから小文字のs）に変更。新たに8GBを設定し、5cの下位モデルとして無料で提供されることになった。これにともない16GBモデルも販売終了した。2016年6月14日（日本時間）に行われたWWDC2016で発表となったiOS 10には対象外となった。よってiPad 2やiPad (第3世代)・iPod touch（第5世代）などとともにiOS 9系が最終サポートとなる。 またiPhone 4Sが発表された翌日の2011年10月5日には、Apple創設者のスティーブ・ジョブズが死去しており、iPhone 4Sはスティーブ・ジョブズが見届けた最後のiPhoneといえる。
