大学院における教育研究上の基本となる組織。法文上は、学生や教員が所属する教育研究上の組織そのものを指すが、教育課程や施設設備などの教育研究の実施単位を指す場合と教育研究スタッフが所属する組織を指す場合がある。

A basic organizational unit for graduate education and research. The term is legally defined as a unit that students and academic staff belong to, but it may mean either a unit for conducting education and research or a group of academic staff.
