最南端到達の歴史

最南端到達の歴史（さいなんたんとうたつのれきし）は、探検家などが地球上で到達した最も南（英: Farthest South）の記録を塗り替え、1911年に南極点が征服されるまでの歴史である。南極点到達までの画期的な出来事としては、1619年のホーン岬より南の陸地の発見、ジェームズ・クック船長による1773年の南極圏突入、1820年の最初の南極大陸視認があった。19世紀終盤からは最南端の探求がそのまま南極点到達に向けた競争になり、1911年のロアール・アムンセンによる南極点征服で頂点に達した。
