奴隷制度廃止運動

奴隷制度廃止運動（どれいせいどはいしうんどう、英:Abolitionism）は、奴隷制度と世界的な奴隷貿易を終わらせようとする政治活動である。ヨーロッパの啓蒙時代に始まり、19世紀のヨーロッパとアメリカ合衆国で大きな世論となり、最終的にその目的の幾つかは達成できた。ただし、今日でも子供や大人の奴隷および強制労働は広がり続けている。なお、英語では上記のようにAbolitionismという一つの単語だけで奴隷制度を対象とした廃止運動を表す習慣となっているので、注意を要する。また、Abolitionismは一般的には廃止論あるいは廃止主義と日本語訳されるが、本稿では理論的なことに加えて奴隷制度の廃止に至る活動を取り上げたので廃止運動とした。
