リケッチア目

リケッチア目(Rickettsiales)はαプロテオバクテリアに属する細菌からなる分類群であり、その多くは他の細胞の内部でのみ生存可能である。ヒトに各種疾病を引き起こすリケッチアのような病原体が含まれているが、その一方で細胞内共生説においてミトコンドリアの起源となった細菌もここに由来すると考えられている。ウイルスがリケッチアやそれに類似の生物から生じたと考える者もいる。培養が困難であることもあり、プロテオバクテリアの中でも最も謎につつまれたグループといえる。
