ファゴットは、ダブルリード（複簧）族の木管楽器の1つである[1][2]。バスーンとも呼ばれる。ヘ音記号音域とテナー記号音域、時にはト音記号音域で演奏する。ファゴットは19世紀に現代的な形で登場し、オーケストラやコンサートバンド、室内楽作品で重要な位置を占める。ファゴットは、その独特の音色、幅広い音域、多彩な個性、俊敏さで知られている。現代ファゴットには、ビュッフェ式（フランス式）とヘッケル式（ドイツ式）の2種類が存在する。
