バアス党（バアスとう、アラビア語: حزب البعث, ラテン文字転写: Ḥizb al-Ba‘th, ヒズブ・アル＝バアス）は、シリア・イラクなどのアラブ諸国で活動する汎アラブ主義政党[1]。公式名称はアラブ社会主義復興党（アラビア語: حزب البعث العربي الاشتراكي, ラテン文字転写: Ḥizb al-Baʻth al-ʻArabī al-Ishtirākī[5]）[1][2][4]。日本では慣用としてバース党[6] とも表記するが、実際のアラビア語の発音では「バアス」と発音・表記する[1]。

- ^ イラク戦争開戦2カ月前、日本政府と国務省はサッダーム体制崩壊後も全面的なバアス党員に対する公職追放は行わずに新生イラク軍や官僚機構に、犯罪行為に加担していない幹部を登用する方向で一致していた。しかし2003年1月20日に出された「国家安全保障大統領令」により、 戦後復興は国務省ではなく国防総省の管轄となり、この方針は放棄されたという（共同通信 2006年3月19日配信記事より）。
