チャレンジャー号爆発事故（チャレンジャーごうばくはつじこ）は、1986年1月28日、アメリカ合衆国のスペースシャトル"チャレンジャー"が打ち上げから73秒後に分解し、7名の乗組員が全員死亡した事故である[1]。同オービタは北米東部標準時午前11時39分（16:39UTC、1月29日1:39JST）にアメリカ合衆国フロリダ州中部沖の大西洋上で空中分解した。この打ち上げはチャレンジャーにとって10回目であり、ミッション名はSTS-51-Lであったが、打ち上げ直後の事故のためほとんどの予定が遂行されずに終わった。
