セボフルラン(Sevoflurane)は、甘い香りをもつ、不燃性の高度にフッ素化されたハロゲン化エーテルであり、吸入麻酔薬として全身麻酔の導入および維持に用いられる。デスフルランに次いで、揮発性麻酔薬の中では最も効果の発現と消失が速い[1]。吸入麻酔薬としてのカラーコードは黄色で、製品や専用の気化器には黄色のラベルが貼られている。

「全身麻酔」の記事における「セボフルラン(セボフレン)」の解説
血液ガス分配係数の小ささと臭いが穏やかなことから緩徐導入に向く。ほぼどんな用途でも用いることができ、現在もっとも頻用されている吸入麻酔薬である。低流量麻酔下(総流量2リットル以下)では、旧タイプの二酸化炭素吸収剤との接触により発生するCompound Aが腎機能障害を起こすとされたこともあるが、現在ではほとんど問題とされることはない。

「吸入麻酔薬」の記事における「セボフルラン(セボフレン)」の解説
2007年現在、導入が早く、覚醒も早いといわれる揮発性麻酔薬である。血液/ガス分配係数は0.63であり、亜酸化窒素の0.47にかなり近い。エンフルランより強い筋弛緩薬の増強作用をもち、気管支拡張作用を持つため、気管支喘息の患者にも使いやすい。一部が麻酔回路中のソーダライム(ソーダ石灰)と反応し腎障害をおこすとされているコンパウンドAを生成することが知られている。このため腎障害の患者には使わない方が良いとされている(腎障害は殆どないとされているが)。イソフルランのような刺激臭もなく、導入にも維持にも用いることができる。緩徐に2~3呼吸ごとに0.5%ずつ濃度をあげていき5~8%まで上げていく緩徐導入(5~8分)やいきなり5~8%の高濃度を吸入させる急速導入のどちらでも使用可能である。刺激の少なさと合わせて、小児領域の麻酔では非常に好まれる。徐脈をおこすことがイソフルランと対照的である。環境での分解半減期は1.1年程度。
