この記事では、情報学（information science）ないし情報科学（information science）におけるオントロジーについて述べる。知識をある議論領域（ドメイン）内の「概念」並びに「概念間の関係」のなす順序組とみなしたときの形式的表現であり、そのドメイン内のエンティティ（実体）を理由付けしたり、ドメインを記述するのに使われる。
