イギリス陸軍航空隊

イギリス陸軍航空隊（Royal Flying Corps / RFC）は第一次世界大戦の時期のイギリス軍の陸上航空部隊である。1918年4月にイギリス海軍航空隊と統合され、イギリス空軍の母体となった。創設の経緯からも分かるように本来は陸海軍の統合組織であり、直訳ではイギリス軍航空隊であるが、創設後間もなく海軍部隊が離脱している。以下、RFCと記述する。
大戦初期におけるRFCの任務は、専ら砲兵との協同や写真偵察などの陸軍の支援であった。しかし徐々にRFCパイロットはドイツのパイロットと空中戦を行うようになり、大戦後半には敵の歩兵や砲兵陣地の掃射、ドイツの飛行場爆撃や、さらにはドイツの工業施設、輸送施設への戦略爆撃も行うようになった。
